A Million Women’s Stories

Throughout time, women have sat in circles sharing the stories of their lives.
These stories have passed from generation to generation, keeping the family narrative alive.

So we do know that the power of storytelling is both healing and educational.

In modern days, it’s the local Starbucks, yoga retreat or women’s groups that take up this tradition.

All women invariably listen and learn from each other.

Thus, the MWHP will be collecting one million stories across America to keep the tradition alive.

We’re talking to you:

The Heart is one of the most iconic images and concepts in the world. With its own language and meaning, for millennia it has inspired every aspect of the arts. As women, our hearts can go the range, passionate, playful, desirous, devilish, jealous, and joyful. The heart holds the spirit, intellect, moral compass, and emotional core all while being rolled into one little pear shaped muscle that’s as big as a fist. It’s responsible for pumping a million barrels during a woman’s lifetime, but that lifetime has been cut short for too many women. Events of the Heart is launching The Million Women’s Heart Project to address the challenge facing women today and their #1 threat, Heart Disease.

Currently, we are losing one woman every minute to heart disease. Why hasn’t this message been barraged to women like mammograms, like new diets, like using SPF 30, or the benefits of Botox?
At Events of the Heart we take this issue very personally. It was Pamela’s experience of having a triple bypass at 47 that led her to make her “mess her message.” So, she turned to her good friend Carole to join her in the journey. We developed a method called “purposeful storytelling,” something women have been doing for years. Dramatizing true stories of real women allows us to create flesh and blood characters, inviting women’s stories on stage, all the while inspiring them to take action for THEMSELVES.

Still, the numbers of women with heart disease are rising and too many are unaware or shamed by this issue. Real change is always connected to large numbers and beneficent actions; and thus, The Million Women’s Heart Project was birthed. The MWHP is committed to screen, message to, and collect the heart stories of a million women across America.

We invite you to listen to the stories, be a part of the conversation, and assist us in that sea of change by reaching out to your sectors, and donating screenings for women everywhere.
